James P. Long

James P Long has won numerous Evangelical Press Association awards for his writing. He is author of hundreds of magazine articles, has contributed to 10 books and written nine others, including Why Is God Silent When We Need Him the Most? It’s Who You Are That Counts and When Things Get Tough. His books have been translated into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and German, as well as English editions being circulated in Singapore and the British Isles.

He is editor of Outreach magazine in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a publication that seeks to connect outreach-motivated churches across the country. He is the former editor and director of editorial development for Campus Life magazine, where he was part of the creative team for 16 years. He also served as contributing editor to CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) and Marriage Partnership, and has been published in Christianity Today, Discipleship Journal, Decision, the Chicago Tribune and other publications.

For 10 years, before joining Outreach, he gave editorial and creative direction to print, video, website and media projects for WorldVenture, a missionary enterprise with innovative ministries in more than 60 areas around the world. He has also served in staff ministry positions at the local church and denominational levels.
